Memorial Day

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and Memorial Day. This weekend I managed to fill up on some bbq, but Memorial Day found me at the Red Hook vendors chomping down on pupusas and plantain chips topped off with tamarind juice. I am trying hard to get in shape for summer but these pupusas will be my absolute downfall! Every time I make a visit to Red Hook, I stop here specifically at the Salvadorian truck for my favourite cheese & jalapeno. This holiday weekend was much needed as I did what I do best......took midday naps and fed my belly.

2-for-1

My follower list is growing slowly but surely which is more motivation for me to try and post more frequently. This post is a two-for-one. This weekend I unsuccessfully drove around looking for the Red Hook Lobster Pound truck but ending up going to their home location to try out their lobster roll (you can find the truck thru their twitter feed). It was definitely worth the hunt! If you're ever in the Red Hook neighborhood and also a fan of the crustacean, check it out at 284 Van Brunt St. I assure you you're taste buds won't be disappointed!

It seems lately I can't escape the blazers and I'm even finding myself throwing them on on Saturdays to run my errands.

Corporate Ruffle

The corporate wardrobe can get a little stale so yesterday I spiced it up with a few details. The featured dress was purchased from Reiss a couple years ago, but with all the recent hype that Kate Middleton has brought to the brand I was inspired to pull it out. I paired it with a tweed blazer to add some sophistication since the collar was a bit too low for the office.

Here Comes The Sun!

The weather in New York has been stunning lately! My allergies however have been under attack. I visited Battery Park with the senator after work on Friday, which left my eye in an itchy eye fit for several hours later. I haven't done an outfit post in a long time so had to convince him to take a couple shots of me...he literally only took a couple shots. Hoping to abandon the scarf this week as we jump into some summer like weather.

Brunch and Puppets Sunday

Brunch is my most favourite meal. Ever. Five Napkins Burger has been on my 'to eat at' list for over a year now and I finally got to taste what the rave above the pork taquitos were recently. Brunch with my girlfriends at the Five Napkins in the Theatre district followed by the play 'Avenue Q' was how I spent a recent Sunday. If you're a play enthusiast or if you're looking for a good laugh I think it's a play you should definitely check out. Having puppets in the play was a unique touch and added to the comedy. It is a great coming of age story as well for those recently finishing college and are unable to identify with what comes next. There is no script on how to navigate this thing called life, but the journey---as I am learning---will only help to shape you into the person you want to become.

CR-La Catarata y Volcan

Our last two days in Costa Rica were spent at the spa and hiking to the Arenal volcano and the nearby waterfall. After that long drive from Tamarindo to Arenal our bodies were aching for the hot springs on site at our next stop Hotel el Silencio del Campo. It was a totally different set up from our previous hotel. We were welcomed with a complimentary papaya fruit drink while setting up our excursions during our stay, then we settled quickly into our villa. The mood here was just very peaceful and back to nature. There were no phones in our room so room service was out of the question. The first day we just wandered around the hotel grounds then relaxed the early evening away with spa services. The lady who did my facial had special hands. Two touches and I was out cold until the end of the session.

CR-Bye Bye Tamarindo

I always get this sad feeling when leaving somewhere I just visited. I try to force my memory to remember every detail that I fell in love with so that I would have a safe keep mental picture to refer to in the future. Since I've fallen in love with traveling, I know it will be a long time before I ever come back to Costa Rica and there are so many other places that I want to see before doing so. The only places I've ever visited more than once were London & Barcelona and with reason.

I had a wonderful stay in Tamarindo. Hotel Tamarindo Diria Beach & Golf Resort was a four star in my book and I would definitely recommend it to others. Below are some pics of the hotel as I promised to post in a previous blog entry. It was now time to take our 4.5-5 hr ride to Arenal and say goodbye to all those that made our trip a memorable one so far. If I ever make it back to Tamarindo it would be great to see that this hotel only got better with age.
