CR-La Catarata y Volcan

Our last two days in Costa Rica were spent at the spa and hiking to the Arenal volcano and the nearby waterfall. After that long drive from Tamarindo to Arenal our bodies were aching for the hot springs on site at our next stop Hotel el Silencio del Campo. It was a totally different set up from our previous hotel. We were welcomed with a complimentary papaya fruit drink while setting up our excursions during our stay, then we settled quickly into our villa. The mood here was just very peaceful and back to nature. There were no phones in our room so room service was out of the question. The first day we just wandered around the hotel grounds then relaxed the early evening away with spa services. The lady who did my facial had special hands. Two touches and I was out cold until the end of the session.

CR-Bye Bye Tamarindo

I always get this sad feeling when leaving somewhere I just visited. I try to force my memory to remember every detail that I fell in love with so that I would have a safe keep mental picture to refer to in the future. Since I've fallen in love with traveling, I know it will be a long time before I ever come back to Costa Rica and there are so many other places that I want to see before doing so. The only places I've ever visited more than once were London & Barcelona and with reason.

I had a wonderful stay in Tamarindo. Hotel Tamarindo Diria Beach & Golf Resort was a four star in my book and I would definitely recommend it to others. Below are some pics of the hotel as I promised to post in a previous blog entry. It was now time to take our 4.5-5 hr ride to Arenal and say goodbye to all those that made our trip a memorable one so far. If I ever make it back to Tamarindo it would be great to see that this hotel only got better with age.

CR-All Aboard

Our third day in Costa Rica and we finally made it to the beach---even thou we are literally staying on the beach. We now had the warm sunshine, the sand between our toes and the most gorgeous view of never ending blue water that we so longed for. The minute we were able to set up camp and start to relax we started got bombarded by vendors who literally approached us every two minutes trying to sell merchandise. After saying 'NO' in both spanish and english we were annoyed enough to move on to the next activity on our agenda.

CR-Best and Worst Caipirinha

Costa Rica is beautiful! Our first full day was dedicated to adventure. First up we wanted to try the ATVs followed by Canopy Tours (zip lining) for my friends. I'd already zip lined once it in Puerto Vallarta, MX, and since I am deathly afraid of heights there was no way I was going to try that again. With that being said, I do think everyone should experience zip lining at least once in their life. It's something I can say I won't ever regret or forget doing.

For breakfast I wore a cotton white tank, wool plaid short shorts, a crimson chiffon short sleeve cardigan and sandals.

Costa Rica

After much vacation debate my long time best friends and I decided to take a trip to Costa Rica. It's no debate however that we can certainly be described as more city girls than nature girls but the choice to come to CR has not been regrettable. We are traveling to both Tamarindo beach and La Fortuna (Arenal) over the next 6 days (a very short time may I add) trying to gain an experience filled with relaxation and adventure. Funny thing is most of the tourist are young backpackers dressed in t-shirts and flip flops so it's pretty easy to spot us coming from a mile away.

Not one for choosing comfort most of the time, my travel outfit for my 5 hour plane ride and additional 5 hour drive to Tamarindo beach from the airport in San Jose, consisted of a silky top, cargo pants and 4.5 inch wedges. I've recently developed an affinity for wedges since I once thought they made my legs look too skinny. That thought was easily banished from my mind since I've discovered wedges accomplish the tasks of providing height in addition to comfort for long wear.

Pillow Fight!

You know what I love most about NYC? There is always so much here to do at any time of the day. I say sometimes I would like to live somewhere else....Washington D.C., Atlanta, Madrid....but my heart and soul is just here in New York. There really is no other place like it.

Last weekend I spent a couple hours at a pillow fight in Union Square. It was a peaceful way to get some aggression out after a long hard week of work. It was nice to see that such a large number of people can get together and do something like this in a peaceful way. See us New Yorkers aren't so bad after all!

Spring Where Are You?

Ok quick outfit post before I head out to the beauty salon. Big hair change today, an experience I plan on blogging about to share with you guys.
The weather in NYC has been plagued by old man winter, so I am anxiously counting down the days to my upcoming sunny vacay. I wore skirts all weak trying to urge in sunnier skies and warmer weather, but to no avail by the end of the week it was snowing and raining. SIGH, I tried.
